While out having conversations with the public, one recurring question that I’ve been asked is “How does a member of the public follow along with Council?”

It’s quite simple. The town uses software called Diligent for our Council meeting agenda’s and it’s posted publicly to the Council portal website: https://coalhurst.diligent.community/Portal/

From the main page, if you click on meetings it takes you to a list of all the Council and committee meetings. From there you can select a meeting of your choice.

I’ll use September 16th as an example as it was the last meeting we had.

The main meeting page: https://coalhurst.diligent.community/Portal/MeetingInformation.aspx?Id=370, has an outline of the agenda and you can click on the different files to see the information that’s given to Council. Some information is listed as close session information, this is typically would be something that’s held confidential because it has land, legal, or financial impacts.

Typically the meeting would follow the agenda and Council would work through the items presented. When we have a RFD, Request for Decision, we would have an information package provided that speaks to the background, information, and impacts the decision would have. Often there’s a recommendation from administration or a committee with a preferred outcome. However, it’s up to Council to decide how to proceed.

Now that we can follow along with the agenda package, we can look at the town’s Youtube channel to see live streams of the council meetings.

Every once in a while a Councillor will make a motion that might be influenced by conversation during a meeting, that had not been brought to council via the RFD process. Typically these motions would be a bit on the lighter side of what’s being requested as Council would prefer an RFD for more impactful decisions.

In the case of our last meeting, I had considered the information being provided by the RFD from the Community Housing Advisory Committee with regards to the Housing Accelerator Fund, and had thought in this instance a more holistic conversation on housing in Coalhurst needed to be had. I had put forward a motion asking for a Committee of the Whole meeting during the first quarter of 2026 to be dedicated to talking about housing in Coalhurst.

To see how the deviation came up in the meeting, click on the link to the YouTube recording of the Council Meeting:
https://www.youtube.com/live/RKtB-Au-bh4?si=NmP1b8jmsn3OUB0i&t=4033

As you can see it’s easy to access the information and see the discussions that are being held. I think it’s wonderful that residents want to be engaged and aware of what is going on with the decisions that Council is making. This post provides clarity on where to find the information and agendas that council uses to make their decisions.

The post How to follow along with Council first appeared on Scott Akkermans.

From my understanding there are two primary areas of concern. The undeveloped area behind the elementary school, that currently has the canal and walking path, and the area in the north east corner of town which is north of the RV storage and east of 8th Street.

On the two images below we see the area behind the school which is currently zoned as “transitional” (grey color). The area east of 7th and 8th street has a few different types of zoning. On the southwest corner of the undeveloped area there’s a cowboy boot shape that’s listed as “transitional”, the wetlands area is zoned as “parks and recreation” (green color). We see more of the parks and recreation in the northeast corner of town, parcel x, where our new off leash dog park is. To the south and west of parcel x there’s another new zone, “business park” (pink color) that expands west towards 8th street. Note there is a sliver of “parks and rec” between 8th street and the “business park”.

Two Images above are taken from the Land Use Bylaw Zoning Map

The Land Use Bylaw has a breakdown of what the different zoning types contain, but before I get there I wanted to speak briefly to the process. Our Land Use Bylaw is a way to paint sections of town for the purpose they will support. This could include park spaces, places for residential, places for business. After the Land Use Bylaw is passed before any additional work can be completed we would have the Town alongside developers create an Area Structure Plan (ASP). During the process of creating the ASP there are mandated opportunities for the community to provide input through a public hearing and gathering feedback before that hearing. The ASP really breaks things down into a rough lay of the land for where roads and infrastructure will go. It’s a guiding document that helps when it comes time to do the actual subdivision of lots.

There is a higher level document, the Municipal Development Plan, which sets the direction for growth within town. The MDP was passed by previous councils in May of 2017. This would have been the end of the term of council that sat two terms before the current Council had been elected. When the MDP had been passed in 2017 the area to the northeast of town had been listed as “New Employment Areas” and there was a section that was “Additional Planning Areas”.

Municipal Development Plan Map 1 (pdf page 24 of the Municipal Development Plan)

The changes in 2025 to the Land Use Bylaw had set the zoning for the “New Employment Area” by creating the “Business Park” zoning, in addition the “Additional Planning Areas” had ended up turning into an off leash dog park under the “Parks and Recreation Zoning”

I’ll quickly summarize the different zoning we have in the Land Use Bylaw that I’ve mentioned before.

Transitional (page 93 of the LUB pdf), purpose: “To be applied to larger parcels of land usually on the periphery of existing development. The district restricts uses and maintains parcels in larger sizes to allow maximum flexibility for use and development when the land is required for urban development.“

Parks and Recreation (page 89 of the LUB pdf), purpose: “To designate areas for the development of open space, parks and recreational areas and facilities.“

Business Park (page 83 of the LUB pdf), purpose: “To allow for the development of light manufacturing, assembly operations, warehousing, business services and contractor services, sales for goods produced on-site and other commercial uses which are compatible with each other and with uses in adjacent districts.”

Business Industrial (page 85 of the LUB pdf), purpose: “To allow for the development of industrial commercial uses which are compatible with each other and with uses in adjacent districts.”

What does this exactly mean? For one there’s going to be no type of factories or any business that will be developed behind the Elementary school at this time. As this is listed as transitional council hasn’t made any decisions for development, commercial or anything really. There are other factors at play that may influence decisions on development in the future like the costs associated with remediation and preparing the site for development.

This also means that for the houses by the cowboy boot mentioned above, Council hasn’t decided what will fit between there and the wetlands. The wetlands being parks and rec mean that we can take the plan the Wetlands Enhancement Committee had created and use that as a guiding document to provide additional amenities to residents.

When the zoning changes from Transitional to its intended purpose there will be opportunity for community engagement through the mandated process which involves gathering information and a public hearing.
Now let’s dive into the Business Park. Page 83 of the Land Use Bylaw pdf dives deeper into this but we have a list of what is permitted and discretionary. If someone wanted to develop with something that was permitted, as long as they are following the rules for the zoning they would be able to proceed. For the discretionary uses these would be reviewed and looked at on a case by case basis to ensure that they fit with not only the business park but the residents that live in the area.

I have a clip below from page 83 of the LUB pdf that shows the permitted and discretionary uses for the Business Park zoning. For a full breakdown of definitions of the different purposes please look at the definitions that begin on page 155 of the LUB pdf.

When we are looking at the area south of the RV Storage on the east side of town. Council had adopted a two stage guiding document for development of the “Wetlands”. The wetlands is the area surrounding the stormwater pond located just north of 45th avenue. The two phases are shown below. At the Sept. 2nd Council meeting, Council had adopted the two phase plan for future development. The two phases and accompanying conceptual images are shown below.

Finally, when we look at the Vibrant Spaces Vibrant Lives (Rec. Master Plan) document, it identifies areas in town as different locations for development. The area behind the elementary school borders two different locations highlighted in our Rec. Master Plan are: Community Centre & Town-Centre Park. A deeper dive into the rec master plans highlights some of the amenities that we could see come to the area should future councils want to allocate money to them. These are not set in stone by any means but some amenities that have been identified are: outdoor amphitheater, multi-use outdoor ice surface, picnic shelter, social area/ community gathering, or a memorial garden (Rec. Master Plan PDF pages 50-52). The thoughts from the current council are to eventually create a community space within that area of town.

PDF page 45 of the Recreation Master Plan (Vibrant Spaces Vibrant Lives)

I hope this adds a little bit of clarity to the process and when this process had begun. When our current council was looking at ways to prevent residents bringing in over 95% of the taxation the town collects we were trying to find the most suitable cost effective way of doing so. We had brought along MPE engineering to do a study and the area in the NE corner of town was identified as the best location. When Council had looked at creating the zoning there we had looked at what would be permitted or discretionary to limit the impact to nearby residents. Thought was given to maintaining spaces for people to gather within the community and look at community spaces holistically for the growth of Coalhurst.

If you would like to read my personal insight into why I had made the choice to support the land use bylaw it can be found on my website’s blog:

My Commitment and Vision

My vision for Coalhurst is one of responsive, collaborative, and emotionally intelligent leadership. I am committed to a kind of governance that prioritizes open communication, respectful dialogue, and proactive problem-solving. My leadership style isn’t about power; it’s about service. It’s about bringing people together to build a stronger, more united community.

A Culture of Collaboration and Respect

I will work to create a council environment where constructive debate leads to better outcomes, not conflict. I will:

Foster a Safe Space: I will create an environment where every member of council feels safe and empowered to bring forward their ideas and thoughts. My goal is to ensure our council is collaborative, not volatile, by addressing rising tensions when they pop up. To keep an eye on this I’d be asking to connect regularly with other members of Council to have check ins.

Lead with Emotional Intelligence: I will lead with emotional intelligence and a firm commitment to respectful conduct. This means challenging ideas and policies, not individuals, and staying on top of issues so that personalities do not overshadow progress.

Connecting Council and Community

Effective leadership means being present and accessible to the people we serve. I will:

Be Accessible: I will create spaces for open and casual conversations, meeting the community where they are to hear their concerns and celebrate their successes. This includes ensuring our businesses and community groups have a direct opportunity to be heard.

Communicate Clearly: I am committed to communicating clearly, even when the message is difficult to deliver. I will always be transparent and listen to concerns with a non-defensive stance, seeking to understand before acting.

When we go to vote. It’s not just about voting for a leader, it’s about voting for the type of culture we want to create.

I’d love your support for creating that culture.

Building a Collaborative Culture

Building a thriving community requires more than just focusing on our own town; it means actively connecting with our neighbors, local businesses, and regional partners. By building strong, strategic relationships, we can unlock new opportunities, attract resources, and create a stronger, more resilient future for everyone in Coalhurst. My approach is about working together to achieve more than we could alone.

Forging Strategic Partnerships

A key part of my vision is to shift from isolation to collaboration. My plan is to proactively leverage my position to advocate for Coalhurst on a wider scale. We will:

Establish a Regional Voice: We’ll explore options for regional collaboration and opportunities for cost-sharing with our neighbors. By working together on shared issues, we can achieve more than we could alone. An example would be cost sharing council training opportunities within the region.

Provincial Advocacy: If elected, I will continue to be an active member of Alberta Municipalities. I will leverage my position as Director for Towns South and a member of the Economic Strategy Committee to share Coalhurst’s and the region’s wins and opportunities with colleagues from around the province and members of the Government of Alberta.

Empower Council: I will encourage all members of council to leverage their positions on external boards and committees to advocate for the interests of Coalhurst.

Fostering a Culture of Dialogue

A strong community starts with respectful and productive conversations at the council table. My commitment is to foster an environment where every voice is heard and every idea is valued. Together we will:

Elevate Discussion: We’ll create a space within council chambers where we challenge ideas and policies, not individuals. This encourages productive debate and leads to better decision-making for our community.

Listen to Our Citizens: We’ll create more formal and informal spaces for residents to voice their thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

Strengthening Our Community From Within

Building bridges isn’t just about external connections; it’s about strengthening the bonds within our own town. We will actively support and celebrate the groups and individuals who make a difference in Coalhurst. This includes:

Community Spaces: We’ll work on creating dedicated spaces for our residents to connect and build community, such as the proposed dog park and amenities within the wetlands project.

Supporting Local Champions: We will encourage and support those who are making a positive impact and highlight groups and organizations that are already doing incredible work within our community.

Our community deserves a government that is not only fiscally responsible but also forward-thinking and innovative. By adopting a “smart solutions” approach, working alongside Council to ensure that every dollar is used effectively to create a strong, sustainable future for Coalhurst. This means making intelligent decisions today to secure high-quality services for generations to come, without placing an undue burden on taxpayers.

Responsible Growth & Economic Development

My focus is on creating a robust local economy by being a good steward of our resources and promoting thoughtful business growth. I believe that when our local businesses thrive, our entire community benefits. Working together with Council we will:

Promote Business Growth: We will work actively with our business community to understand their needs and support their expansion.

Create Community Dialogue: We’ll create dedicated spaces and opportunities for regular interaction with local business owners. This collaboration will help us identify challenges and find smart solutions to foster a vibrant local economy.

Planning for Our Future

A responsible government must plan for the future. By taking a proactive approach to our community’s development, ensuring we are prepared for growth we can maintain a high quality of life. This includes:

Future-Ready Infrastructure: As a Council we can plan for the future of our infrastructure and residential expansion, ensuring that our services can keep pace with our growth.

Transparent Service Levels: I would love to see and champion the creation of a public “level of service” document. This will inform residents about our current service standards and show how those services directly impact the budget. By providing this information, we can give residents a greater voice in the budgeting process, ensuring their priorities are at the forefront, while meeting the service needs of the community.

Cultivating a Lifelong Community

In my vision for Coalhurst, we’re building a community where everyone can put down roots and flourish throughout their lives. This means creating a place where people don’t have to move away due to a lack of housing or support, ensuring our families and friends can stay close. My goal is to make Coalhurst a truly “lifelong community.”

Strategic Housing Solutions

Working with Council, we will focus on a strategic approach to housing that benefits everyone. This isn’t just about one type of home; it’s about building an ecosystem of housing that fits a resident’s needs at every stage of life. My plan includes:

Diverse Housing Options: Working towards bringing in more housing options, including homes that allow for “downsizing” for empty nesters and seniors. When appropriate housing is available for our aging population, it creates a crucial “trickle-down effect,” freeing up larger family homes for younger residents and those who are just starting out.

Advocating for Affordability: Together we will continue our strong advocacy for housing affordability. We’ll build on the momentum of resolutions being brought to the Alberta Municipalities convention this fall, hopefully creating a mandate so the Alberta Municipalities committees can advocate and champion solutions that make housing more accessible for all.

Support Services and Quality of Life

Building a lifelong community is about more than just housing; it’s about creating a supportive environment. We will examine and implement solutions that enhance the quality of life for our residents, particularly our seniors, ensuring they have the resources and support to age with dignity in their homes. Our approach includes:

Wrap-Around Services: Explore and expand “wrap-around” services that provide comprehensive support for our aging population, helping them remain independent.

Learning from Others: We will actively research how other successful communities are approaching “nurturing lifelong residency” and seek to implement the best ideas that fit Coalhurst.

Improving Community Amenities: We’ll examine and address the “small things” that significantly impact daily life, such as paving parking lots, and looking at both universal and inclusive design to ensure our facilities and amenities are age-appropriate and accessible for all.

A Vision for Coalhurst: Leading with Purpose and Collaboration

I believe that effective leadership is built on a clear vision, a foundation of core principles, and a deep commitment to the community. My platform is a reflection of that belief, designed to guide our town toward a prosperous and sustainable future. It is founded on three key pillars that I believe will lead us to success: Cultivating a Lifelong Community, Smart Solutions – Sustainable Services, and Building a Collaborative Culture.

These pillars are not just abstract ideas; they are the strategic framework for how I will approach the challenges and opportunities facing our town. They represent a commitment to thoughtful growth, fiscal responsibility, and strong relationships.

But a vision is only as good as the person who champions it. That’s why I also want to share my commitment and vision for how I will lead. I believe that when we go to vote, we’re not just choosing a leader; we’re choosing the type of culture we want to create for our town. My commitment is to foster a culture of respect, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving at every level of our governance.

By focusing on these pillars and leading with a clear vision, we can ensure Coalhurst remains a place where our residents can thrive at every stage of life, where our services are efficient and forward-thinking, and where our relationships with our neighbors and partners unlock new opportunities for us all.

As you probably are aware, Council had passed the Land Use Bylaw earlier this week.

Here are my thoughts on this topic and why I voted in favor of passing the Land Use Bylaw.

As this was complex I’ll start with the short version

I’m worried about the long-term financial sustainability of Coalhurst as I consider inflation and look at some upcoming provincial changes. There are also amenities I think are community priorities, such as community space in a high school modification and adding amenities around the wetlands. I don’t think it is practical or reasonable to download all of these costs to residential taxpayers. Right now, over 95% of our assessment comes from residential. To cover our future financial needs, we need to increase our non-residential assessment. This Land Use Bylaw will enable this.

At the same time, I have so appreciated hearing the concerns of residents. Especially those that will be close to the business park. The Land Use Bylaw is a very high vision document that doesn’t go into the details of how to address those concerns. But they need to be addressed. I look forward to having strong community consultation as Council develops an Area Structure Plan to plan how to implement the new Land Use Bylaw while still maintaining high quality and peaceful neighborhoods.

I know that there were some frustrations about the engagement process. Which I get. But it was a process that is mandated by the province to insure everyone gets a fair hearing. Now that it is concluded, Council has a lot more ability to freely talk to residents until the next formal process begins. So if you want to chat or have a conversation, please reach out.

And now for the more indepth thoughts.

On Tuesday, July 8th, Council unanimously approved the third and final reading of Bylaw #462-25, the Land Use Bylaw. I want to acknowledge that concerns were raised during the community engagement process, including the open house and public hearing, and they have been heard. I’m sharing this post to provide transparency on why I voted in favor of the bylaw.

Council’s Role: The Welfare of the Municipality as a Whole

As a Council member, my primary role is to “consider the welfare and interests of the municipality as a whole” as stated on the Alberta Government’s website: https://www.alberta.ca/roles-and-responsibilities-of-municipal-officials. This often means making difficult, sometimes unpopular, decisions that are ultimately for the long-term benefit of the entire community.

Alignment with Strategic Planning and Existing Documents

My decision was heavily influenced by our Town’s Strategic Plan (https://coalhurst.ca/government/town-planning-vision/). The Land Use Bylaw aligns strongly with our mission to be a “community of choice” and our value of “Public Service,” which focuses on long-term community benefit. Specifically, two of our top priorities, “Providing Coalhurst Residents with Exceptional Service” and “Incentivizing Business Development in Coalhurst,” are directly supported by this bylaw. We also prioritize “Making Informed Decisions based on the Principles of Good Governance.”

Furthermore, our 2017 Municipal Development Plan (https://orrscgis.com/Data/ORRSC_Web_Docs/Bylaws/Towns/Coalhurst/Municipal%20Development%20Plan/Coalhurst%20Municipal%20Development%20Plan%20391-17%20May%202017%20(consolidated%20to%20Bylaw%20404-19%20Feb%202019).pdf) identifies the proposed business park location as “New Employment Areas” on PDF page 41, guiding our decision.

Benefits of a Business Park

A business park offers significant advantages for our community:

Economic Growth: It provides employment opportunities and creates local jobs and provides services and products to the community.

Tax Revenue: Increased tax revenue from businesses can help offset the burden on residential property taxes, which currently account for 95.4% of our total assessment (https://coalhurst.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/2025-Mill-Rate-Bylaw-No.-466-25.pdf). This is crucial for sustainability, especially with rising costs for services and external requisitions like Education Tax, Green Acres Foundation, and RCMP costs which may increase further with the “Independent Agency Police Service” announcement on July 2nd (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gKJ66B_iww&t=2668s).

Community Investments: Increased tax revenue can enable partnerships for community spaces e.g., within the Coalhurst High School modernization project, which recently received design funding (https://lethbridgenewsnow.com/2025/05/21/design-funding-approved-for-coalhurst-high-school-modernization/). It can also contribute to amenities for projects like our Wetlands, which will require significant financial contributions. Speaking of the Wetlands, we have an open house scheduled for July 26th to review the concept our working committee has been working on.

Addressing Resident Concerns: Location and Future Engagement

A key concern raised during engagement was the proposed business park’s location and its proximity to residential neighborhoods. The chosen location was identified as ideal after a Council motion on November 7th, 2023, where we asked administration “…for land development assessment and future municipal planning for commercial use, mixed use, and light industrial use…”. Other potential sites, like Miner’s Park or the empty space in the center of town, presented cost-prohibitive issues (e.g., lift stations, remediation costs). The Greentree area to the south of the wetlands already has an Area Structure Plan (https://coalhurst.ca/services/planning-development/proposed-area-structure-plan-greentree/) in place since September 17th, 2024. No other suitable locations exist within current town boundaries.

Regarding the level of engagement, the process is mandated by the Municipal Government Act (Sections 692 – Planning Bylaws & 216.4 – Public Hearings: https://kings-printer.alberta.ca/570.cfm?frm_isbn=9780779853908&search_by=link). I am grateful for all the feedback received.

It’s important to understand that the Land Use Bylaw is the first step in a multi-stage process. It’s a higher-level plan that broadly outlines potential land uses. More detailed community engagement opportunities will arise as projects move forward, particularly during the Area Structure Plan (for subdivisions of three or more lots) and subdivision processes. We saw this with the Greentree Area Structure Plan, which included an open house and public hearing. While the concerns raised are valid, I believe they are more appropriately addressed at these later, more detailed stages of planning.

Moving Forward

Considering all these factors, I believe passing the Land Use Bylaw is in the best interest of the entire town. This is just the beginning of the process, and there will be mandated opportunities for public feedback and for Council to listen as plans become more specific. I’m hoping I’ll be sitting at the table at that time to ensure those concerns are heard.

I understand this was a lengthy explanation, but I felt it was crucial to be transparent about my decision and the reasoning behind it. I did not make this decision lightly and empathize with those who raised concerns. I am open to respectful conversations if anyone wishes to discuss this further.

It’s an exciting time when local efforts translate into broader change. Recently I had brought forward two motions that were supported by Town Council, and are now poised to be brought forward as resolutions at the Alberta Municipalities fall convention. For me, this isn’t just about housing. it’s a powerful testament to the impact of dedicated advocacy. These initiatives highlight how local engagement can lead to tangible wins, helping us overcome the housing hurdles we face in our community.

Enhancing Housing Opportunities and Affordability: A Provincial Push

The main resolution, brought forward to the fall convention from the Town of Coalhurst, focuses on “Enhancing Housing Opportunities and Affordability Across Alberta.” This resolution directly addresses the growing need for diverse and affordable housing, a challenge that many municipalities, including our own, grapple with daily. By advocating for this resolution, and if passed, Coalhurst and Alberta Municipalities aim to proactively push for policies that meet our housing needs, reduce existing barriers and costs for municipalities in housing development, and even improve safety codes and protections for homebuyers.

What does this mean for us locally? This resolution has the potential to streamline housing development, making it easier and more cost-effective to build the homes we desperately need. It’s about creating an environment where a wider range of housing options, from starter homes to more diverse family dwellings, can flourish, ultimately improving housing accessibility and affordability right here in our backyard.

Supporting Our Seniors: Keeping Communities Connected

The second resolution is in support for the Village of Stirling’s resolution for senior housing. This initiative tackles a deeply personal issue for many: the lack of appropriate housing for seniors, especially in smaller municipalities and rural areas. Far too often, our older adults are forced to leave the communities they’ve built their lives in, losing invaluable support networks.

This advocacy seeks to empower municipalities to provide more housing opportunities for seniors, allowing our cherished seniors to age in place, surrounded by their community. Furthermore, it calls for Alberta Municipalities to urge the Government of Alberta to review the Affordable Housing Partnership Program, ensuring it truly supports communities of all sizes in their efforts to house seniors.

How does this impact local housing? By focusing on senior housing, we’re not just building structures; we’re preserving community bonds. This resolution could open doors for funding and support, enabling us to develop senior-friendly living options that keep families together and ensure our seniors can remain vital parts of our local fabric. When seniors have a place that is safe and suits their needs, it opens up housing for the rest of the community.

The Power of Advocacy: From Local Efforts to Systemic Change

These two resolutions are more than just policy proposals; they are shining examples of the power of local advocacy. They demonstrate that when dedicated individuals and councils engage with the democratic process, real change is possible. The challenges we face in housing are significant, but by identifying these issues at the local level and championing solutions through platforms like Alberta Municipalities, we can collectively push for systemic improvements.

It’s a reminder that our voices matter, and that participating in the process, even at a municipal level, can lead to widespread wins that benefit everyone. By highlighting these initiatives, we not only shed light on critical housing solutions but also inspire continued engagement in the advocacy that is so vital for our communities’ growth and well-being.

Hello Coalhurst! I’m Scott Akkermans and I’m excited to run for Mayor. My wife, our energetic 5-year-old son, and I made Coalhurst our home in 2020. We absolutely adore it here!! Seriously, the moment we arrived, we knew this was where we belonged. I was soon elected to council in 2021, and It’s been a privilege to serve ever since.

By day, I work remotely as a draftsman—a role that requires precision, problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail. These skills have proved useful during my time on council.

Beyond work and council duties, you’ll often find me embracing the simple joys of life in and around Coalhurst: adventuring on local hiking trails, casting a line while fishing, or getting my hands dirty making sausage. Weekends are for family—intense army battles with my son, camping, or hosting a great BBQ.

I strive to learn and improve. Recently, I’ve obtained my Professional Certification in Autodesk Inventor, my Municipal Elected Leaders Certificate, and I’m currently working on my Professional Certificate in Management & Leadership.

I’m ready to bring my passion for Coalhurst, my proven experience on council, and my commitment to lifelong learning to the role of Mayor.
