Earlier this week I had the absolute pleasure of being one of the individuals selected from the region to travel to Calgary to visit with Invest Alberta. There were a group from the region made up of elected officials, municipal administration, along with individuals who work in economic development. This mini mission was spearheaded by the two Regional Economic Development Alliances (REDA’s) in the area – SouthGrow & Alberta SouthWest.
As Coalhurst’s representative on the SouthGrow board I had jumped at the opportunity. The day was packed with an early departure then a meeting with the Invest Alberta team at their downtown office. This was a great opportunity for all parties as Invest Alberta had a chance to share with us what they do and how they do it. Following the presentation we were given the opportunity to speak about the region and our individual municipalities and everyone got a chance to show off. I was happy to put Coalhurst on the map!
The photo for this post was from “The Rooftop” which was our second stop along the way. It was a chance to informally meet and greet each other and make some connections. It was great to have a chance to make some new connections and strengthen some existing relationships. After a couple hours of bumping elbows we all loaded up and made our way home. There were lots of really great discussions filling the day. It was a long day, but was so worth it. Not only to advocate for Coalhurst but to connect with people to help solve some of our shared problems.
